Whole wheat pita, cut in half to form two pockets
    2 lettuce leaves

    1. Mix together the tomato, onion, and olives

    2. Place a lettuce leaf in each pocket. Stuff the pockets with the vegetables and Hummus.

Makes 1 serving. You can add 3 ounces of cooked, cubed chicken breast or cooked, cubed salmon to the sandwich.

    • Wheat is a food staple which contains glutenine. This can potentially be a problem with people who may not be aware of such a food intolerance/sensitivity. Thus an antigen/antibody upheavasl could cause an inflamatory process, which in turn will contribuye to several physiological difficulties including edema. Tomatoes contain alkaloids and could cause diificulties for people with arthritis. Olives are high in sodium. For prople with a predisposition to hypertension would be contra indicated.

Thank you for sharing your experience however.

    • Thank you for bringing this up. These ingredients are generally recommended for a healthy and balanced diet. Each of them can be contraindicated for a series of conditions but it is up to each of us to know what to choose and do what’s best for our body. If you have doubts about a certain ingredient, it is best to discuss it with your doctor or nutritionist before eating it.

    • Wheat along with dairy products are mucous forming food staples, thus can potentially be a negative contributing factor in the digestive process without the person’s awareness. Alkaloids are hazardous in the sense that many people wonder ‘why the resutling’ joint discomfort. Not all people are familiar/aware with the very possible potentially negative resulting effects of such foods.
