Grapes have been praised for their medicinal qualitiGrape Seed Extract & Skin Care Productses for thousands of years. Recent research indicates that most of their nutritional value lies in the seeds and the fruit peel. Universally recognized as powerful antioxidants, grapes are the source of one of the most used ingredients in the beauty industry: grape seed extract. Extracted from whole grape seeds, it boasts high concentrations of Vitamin E, linoleic acid, and flavonoids (plant compounds with antioxidant qualities).

Apart from helping in various health problems, grape seed extract is great for skincare. With its potent antioxidant and soothing properties it contributes to improving skin elasticity and increasing moisture levels. As an efficient free-radical neutralizer it also promotes youthful, healthy skin. Grape seed extract also has antiseptic properties and can be used to repair damaged, dry or chapped skin, wounds and eczema.

Grape seed oil is another type of extract of the grape seeds and it’s a light and odorless oil that is easily absorbed into skin. Unlike the standardized extract (which is a powder), it can be used in skincare treatments in its natural form as well. This makes it ideal as a massage oil and also as an ingredient in anti-aging creams and hair products. In face creams it can be comedogenic especially for acne-prone skin so it’s recommended to test on a smaller portion before use.
