• New Year’s Eve Beauty Preparations

New Year’s Eve for some is one of the biggest nights of the year, where we go all out on the outfit, hair and makeup. So here are some top tips on how to prep for the night on the few days running up to New Year’s Eve.

    Skin Care

A few days before New Year’s Eve, prepare your skin so it looks radiant and glowing for New Year.  Choose a face mask that suits your skin type – if you have oily skin, try a clay based face mask to draw out any impurities well before New Year. This way you’ll have clearer skin for the big night. If you have dry skin, use an exfoliator to get rid of any dry or flaky skin, then use a nourishing and moisturising face mask. It’s best to do this a couple of days before going out if you have problematic skin as it can sometimes bring out the impurities before it rids of them.

    Body Care

If you’re wearing a dress, many people like to use a false tan to give a glow in winter. If you’re doing this, try to apply it a day or two before New Year’s Eve – false tan can sometimes take a little while to develop so you want to avoid doing it on the morning as it may develop to a darker shade than desired. Remember to exfoliate first to avoid streaks and darker patches. It will also save you time on the night if you don’t have to apply false tan and wait for it to dry!

Top tip: On New Year’s Eve use a body lotion that is the same fragrance as your perfume – it will help to make the scent last longer right through the night.

    Hair Care

Hair care for New Year all depends on which style you choose. If you’re going for an up-do, it’s best to avoid freshly washed hair as it can be quite difficult for it to stay in place. Instead wash your hair the day before and use a dry shampoo to freshen it up on New Year’s Eve – this will actually help to add texture to the style as well as more grip. If your hair is dry, use a hair mask the day before to nourish it and make it more manageable. And remember to leave enough time for blow drying.

Top tip: if you find blow drying difficult, fake it by part drying hair as normal, and using large rollers on large sections of hair. Leave it to set and when you take them out you’ll have body and that slight wave to hair as if you’ve just stepped out from a salon! And don’t forget the humidity hair spray to stop your hair from losing its shape in a hot club!

For the style, New Year’s Eve is the perfect time to try something new. There are so many styles to try from glamourous updo’s to luscious long locks that belong to the red carpet. To get the look, try hair extensions for extra glamour. Clip in hair extensions are so easy to apply and you can be really clever with where you place them for each style. If you’re going for a side braid, place the extensions more on one side so that you can’t see the clips.

    Makeup & Nails

New Year is the perfect time to experiment with glitter – whether it’s on your eyes with a beautiful gold, or on your nails with glitter tips or moons against a block colour. It’s fab for dressing up a plain outfit or giving some sparkle to a little black dress.

If glitter isn’t your thing, then why not try a bold lip instead? A festive red or a bright pink lip looks great next to neutral eyes.
