Since Valentine’s Day has now come and gone chances are you are feeling the consequences of all those heart shaped boxes of chocolates and chocolate dipped strawberries. We tend to overdo it during the holidays with sweets, especially around Valentine’s. When we get caught up in the moment of celebrating love we make excuses to eat more sugar then we normally would. Then there is also the flip side to all of this. Those who find themselves dateless on national “love day” tend to emotionally eat to dull the pain of loneliness. Whatever side of the fence you are on the odds are against you when it comes overcoming the temptation of overindulgence.

Here are some tips that you can use to detox your body from those holiday sweets:

    Warm Lemon Water

You might wake up the next day after Valentine’s Day feeling pretty sluggish and bloated. If this is the case then you probably ate too much sugar. The best way to combat this sluggish feeling is to cleanse your system and a good place to start is with a warm glass of water with a freshly squeezed lemon inside. Warm lemon water jump starts your digestive system and gets everything moving. It also helps to digest food in your stomach and colon.

    Greens

If you are wanting to cleanse and detox your body from all of the junk food that you have probably consumed over Valentine’s weekend, then eat a lot of greens. Stay away from carbs and meat that take more energy and time for your body to break down. For the next day or two eat salads with a lot of green vegetables in them. Green vegetables like spinach, kale or cucumbers have a lot of fiber in them which is good for cleansing your system. If you can’t stomach eating greens then try juicing them. In juice form vegetables tend to taste sweeter. Add fruit if you want your juice sweeter.

    Break a Sweat

    Gym

When your body sweats toxins inside your body are released through the sweat. Take a bike ride, go for a hike, run a mile or two it doesn’t really matter as long as you make your body sweat. You should make sure you sweat for a good while to get as many toxins out as possible so stay active and drink plenty of water in the process.

    Promote Good Circulation

Spend some time stretching or go get a massage. These things help the circulation in your body which gets fluids moving to parts of your body that they may have a difficult time getting to if you have bad circulation.

Try these tips if you are feeling junky and sluggish, you may be surprised at how fast they work and how effective they are. You will probably notice that you feel amazing afterwards. You will probably have more energy and be more alert. If you notice these changes then you may want to consider a lifestyle change of healthy eating and exercise.
