    fall skin care tipsIt’s time to put on your skin defense for the cold season! You don’t have to make major changes in your skincare regimen, but a few simple adjustments will keep your skin soft, supple and protected from weather’s whims. 

    Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate. Rid your skin of summer’s unpleasant marks; exfoliation renews your skin and prepares it for hydration. For your body, oil –based scrubs are ideal. Try sea salt mixed with hydrating essential oils to boost your skin’s natural softness.

    Invest in a hydrating cleanser. Especially if you have dry skin, this is your best bet for the cold season. Cream cleansers are gentle and ideal for washing away impurities without drying out the skin. Taking a bath? Combat dryness caused by hot water with jojoba and sweet almond oils added to your everyday bath! Ditch soaps and soap-based shower gels – your skin will thank you.

    Choose your face cream for this fall. It’s time to replenish and hydrate intensively, but don’t forget the sunscreen. Even during colder and shorter days, the UV index is still strong enough to affect your skin. Chose a light, nourishing day cream with a minimum SPF 15. And if you don’t know which one, Vitamin C based creams are always a good choice.

    Put your hands where we can see them! Hand creams and cuticle oil are good allies when you need soft, youthful looking hands. If the skin on your hands has UV damage signs like spots and creases, exfoliate with scrubs and apply hydrating cream once a day. Classic petroleum jelly is a great hydrator and very inexpensive too! To fade recent spots, try lemon juice -daily spot treating can help fade the dark pigmentation.

    Bring on the antioxidants! Combat aging and neutralize free radicals with a good dose of antioxidants. Whether you chose an antioxidant-infused cream or drink a few cups of green tea every day, your skin will stay protected.

    Erase breakouts and keep a clear complexion. Got occasional pimples? Choose to spot treat in order to avoid dryness. Bi-weekly masks with glycolic acid or clay help clear up your pores and heal blemishes.

    Hydrate your body. Any topical effort is useless if you don’t take proper care of your body … from the inside out. Drink plenty of water and indulge into fall’s vegetables and fruit: fresh grapes and vegetable cocktails are tasty and packed with vitamins.
