• Spring into new skin!


    Spring time skincare Seasonal skincare is not that complicated. Small changes are necessary but also easy to apply in your daily routine. Read these new tips for a new season and adjust to the daylight skincare time!


    Erase winter’s memories – exfoliate with gentle cleansers or professional treatments. Exfoliation has to be gentle –abrasive beads strip the natural layer of oil and scratch the skin, making it prone to irritation, sensitivity and redness.

    Tip: Alternate smooth-bead exfoliation with AHA-s and BHA-s exfoliation.
    Switch from heavy to light – moisturizing is essential but it’s recommended you abandon your heavy night cream! Moisturizing has to be featherweight and light. A simple water-based gel or a hydrating SPF lotion will provide the necessary moisture for normal skin. Look for milky formulas with the right ingredients for your skin type.

    Tip: For extra coverage get a tinted moisturizer. Alternatively you can mix a bit of your regular foundation in your day cream. This is not always successful beauty strategy because some formulas might not blend well together. Test and see the results on your skin. Usually the matte, oil absorbing foundations don’t mix well with day moisturizers.
    Combat dryness – after winter months, skin dryness is a common issue. Support hydration from the inside out with optimum amounts of water, at least 5 servings of veggies and 3 of fruit every day.

    Tip: Hyaluronic Acid is a great re-hydrating ingredient. If you have prolonged dryness, apply a moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid. If you worry about clogged pores, use a Hyaluronic Acid based glycolic treatment (it exfoliates and keeps pores clear) then apply your favorite moisturizer.
    Treat your entire body – Exfoliate your skin a few times a week until you get the desired softness and a natural glow. Use various methods like: exfoliating shower gloves, loofahs, brushes, cosmetic body scrubs or salt scrubs. Follow up with a body lotion or body oil to hydrate intensely.

    Tip: Mix a couple of cups of honey in your bath water once a week. It helps keep your skin soft and hydrated.
    Don’t ‘overdose’ on sunscreen – yes it’s sunny (and you’re feeling great!) but applying multiple layers of sunscreen on your face can have side effects like clogged pores and breakouts. Chose a light formula with SPF 15 to 30 and apply it on clean face before heading out. Re-apply later if you sweat or spend more time outdoors, however it’s best to clean your face before re-applying.

    Tip: Carry moist makeup removing cloths in your purse. Refresh your skin once or twice a day if you don’t wear makeup and reapply moisturizer or sunscreen.
    Infuse skin with vitamins – Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that revitalizes skin and helps clear winter’s marks such as uneven tone, dark spots and blotchiness.

    Tip: If you don’t have sensitive skin, you can use a bit of pineapple or lemon juice – apply and leave on for 5 -10 minutes then rinse with warm water. Use vitamin enriched moisturizers and have a weekly Vitamin C facial.
